Women’s Cross Country Finishes Seventh at NCAA Southeast Regional

WINGATE, N.C. - Paced by sophomore Alex Dixon's 30th-place finish, the Anderson women's cross country team finished seventh at the 2015 NCAA Cross Country Southeast Regional, which was hosted on Wingate University's campus on Saturday.

Montevallo, the top-ranked team in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) DII Southeast Region Rankings, claimed the 6K race, while Wingate and Queens finished second and third, respectively to also advance to the NCAA Championships later this month.

The Trojan women, who were ranked fourth in the latest USTFCCCA poll, finished behind North Georgia (fourth), Flagler (fifth) and Mount Olive (sixth).

Dixon crossed the finish line in a time of 24:29.6, while junior Olivia Gardner (24:46.9) claimed the 37th spot. Sophomore Haylee Love finished 50th in a time of 25:16.9, with freshman Martha Coleman garnering 59th in a time of 25:33.2.

Freshman Abigail Bozarth was 71st after crossing the finish line in a time of 25:54.8, while junior Mia Swiersz (26:12.2) and junior Grace Gerlock (26:38.4) placed 86th and 96th, respectively.
