Women’s Cross Country Slips to Fourth in Regional Poll

NEW ORLEANS - On the heels of a third-place finish at the South Atlantic Conference Championships last weekend, the Anderson University women's cross country team slipped one spot to fourth in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) DII Southeast Region Rankings for the third consecutive week, as released Tuesday afternoon.

The top two teams remained unchanged, as top-ranked Montevallo remained in the top spot for the sixth straight week, as the Falcons were one of six Peach Belt Conference squads represented in the weekly rankings. Wingate appeared at No. 2 for the fourth consecutive week after defending its South Atlantic Conference title last Saturday, with fellow SAC-member Queens moving up one slot to third after taking second at the SAC Championships.

North Georgia remained fifth, while UNC Pembroke occupied the sixth spot. Mount Olive and Columbus State each move up a spot, to seventh and eighth, respectively. Young Harris made an appearance at No. 9 after not being ranked two weeks ago, with Augusta dropping four spots and rounding out the poll at No. 10.

Anderson will get back in action Saturday, Nov. 7, when the Trojans are scheduled to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regionals in Wingate, N.C.
