Women’s Cross Country Remains Third in Regional Poll

NEW ORLEANS - With the South Atlantic Conference Championships on the horizon, the Anderson University women's cross country team remained third in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) DII Southeast Region Rankings for the third consecutive week, as released Tuesday afternoon.

The top three teams remained unchanged, as top-ranked Montevallo remained No. 1 for the fifth straight week, as the Falcons were one of five Peach Belt Conference squads represented in the weekly rankings. Wingate was the highest ranked team from the SAC, appearing at No. 2 for the third consecutive week, with the Trojans holding the third slot.

Fellow SAC-member Queens was fourth and North Georgia remained fifth, while the next four spots saw considerable reshuffling since last week. UNC Pembroke tumbled from sixth out of the rankings, with Augusta, Limestone and Mount Olive taking the sixth, seventh and eighth spots, respectively after not being ranked yet this season.

Columbus State slipped one spot from eighth to ninth, with Flagler falling three slots and rounding out the poll at No. 10.

Anderson will get back in action Saturday, Oct. 24, when the Trojans are scheduled to compete in the conference championship in Pineville, Ky.
