Cannon and Dobson Earn Major Awards; Seven Named to All-Conference Teams

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Sophomore Alicia Cannon (Tarzana, Calif.) was selected as the 2024 SAC Attacker of the Year while freshman Rayne Dobson (Houston, Texas) was selected as this year's Freshman of the Year with five other members of the Trojans women's lacrosse team being named to the All-Conference squads as announced by the league on Tuesday, April 23.

Cannon leads the SAC in goals (58) and points (103) while ranking second in assists (45). She has recorded six or more points in six of ten conference games and ranks sixth nationally in points per game as she averages 6.06. Cannon ranks fourth nationally in points with 103 and twelfth in assists with 45. She was named the SAC WePlayed Sports Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts during the week of March 25 and was the 2022-2023 SAC Freshman of the Year. Cannon also earned First-Team honors.

Dobson ranks third in the SAC in goals (56) and sixth in points (64). She recorded three or more points in seven of ten SAC games and sits third on her team in goals and points. Dobson ranks in the top 30 nationally for goals, sitting at No. 18 and is the fourth-highest freshman in the category. Dobson earned Second-Team All-Conference honors.

Joining Cannon on the first team was sophomore Katy Snyder (Moore, S.C.) who currently sits seventh in the conference with 24 caused turnovers to lead the Trojans. She is second on the team in groundballs (28) and third in draw controls with 15. She has scored three goals on the year while boasting a perfect 100% shots-on-goal percentage.

Also on the Second-Team with Dobson was fellow freshman Ava Skeffington (Charlotte, N.C.) who sits just ahead of Dobson with 57 goals on the year to sit in second place in the conference and 17th in the country. She sits fifth overall in the league with 65 points. Freshman Kathryn McCabe (Alpharetta, Ga.) was also named Second-Team as she sits eighth in the nation in draw controls per page, averaging eight on the year. Her 136 draw controls recorded this season put her tops in the conference by nearly 50, with the next closest being teammate Alicia Cannon at 89.

Rounding out the Second-Team honorees for the Black and Gold is sophomore Ava Drath (Hudsonville, Mich.), who currently sits ninth in the nation in save percentage at 49.7%, a mark that tops the conference by nearly four percentage points. Her 8.42 goals against average is second lowest in the conference and only one of two goals to have the GAA in single digits. That mark also sits 10th in the nation.

Sophomore Jackie Tiongco (Memphis, Tenn.) was the final member of the Trojans to earn her way onto an All-Conference team, taking Third-Team honors. She currently sits fourth on the team in caused turnovers with 24 and 5th on the team with 23 groundballs.

The Trojans look to continue their trek through the conference tournament as they look to avenge their lone conference loss on the year with a matchup with Limestone in the semifinals. First draw for that contest is set for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24.
