Women's Lacrosse Announces 2024 Schedule

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University's women's lacrosse team opens their 2024 campaign hosting consecutive non-conference opponents at Spero Financial Field: Shorter (Feb. 3) and Young Harris (Feb. 8).

The Trojans kick off conference play with three back-to back South Atlantic Conference matchups, travelling to UVA Wise (Feb. 15), hosting Emory & Henry (Feb. 24) and making the trip to Lenoir-Rhyne (Mar. 2). Anderson then heads to Florida to compete against two Sunshine State Conference teams: Florida Tech (Mar. 6) and Palm Beach Atlantic (Mar. 9).

"We used this fall to develop our freshman in order for them to contribute right away and added transfers," said head coach Gail Wallach. "We have a strong non-conference schedule to challenge us early and prepare us for conference play."

SAC play resumes with the Trojans hosting Lincoln Memorial (Mar. 13) and Tusculum (Mar. 16), before wrapping up the month of March with a four-game streak on the road. Anderson will travel to Emmanuel (Ga.) (Mar. 20), Coker (Mar. 23), Limestone (Mar. 26) and Catawba (Mar. 30).

The season concludes with Coach Wallach's squad playing at home for three of its last four games.

"Last season we learned a lot as a first-year program," said Wallach. "We are still a young team and yes, experience matters, but we have a team who is hungry, has great energy and a work ethic that has grown our accountability and chemistry."

The Trojans enter their second season in program history, coming off an impressive inaugural campaign. In 2023, Anderson posted a winning record (9-8), totaling 264 goals and 82 assists.

Three Trojans earned All-SAC Honors, and Anderson's Alicia Cannon (Tarzana, Calif.) took home SAC Freshman of the Year. Cannon claimed a Top-5 finish in three categories of the South Atlantic Conference statistics, recording 136 shots (2nd), 60 goals (3rd) and 84 points (4th). Trojan Ava Drath (Hudsonville, Mich.) concluded the season with a conference-best 51 goals allowed, 8.70 goals-against-average (2nd in the SAC) and 47.4 save percentage (3rd in the SAC).

"The team believes in each other, and they have committed to what it takes to have a successful season," said Wallach. "I am excited for year two because this group is fun, locked in and they are ready to compete."
