ROCK HILL, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week for games played during the first week of the 2024 season. Anderson swept the weekly awards, as Sophia Santagata was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Kathryn McCabe was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
Santagata, a sophomore from North Port, Fla., tallied five goals to help lead Anderson to a season opening win in their second season of action as they defeated Shorter by a 20-1 margin on Saturday. Santagata also added four ground balls, two draw controls and four caused turnovers on the day.
McCabe, a freshman from Alpharetta, Ga., led the Trojans at the center circle, winning 12 draw controls against Shorter on Saturday. She also added one goal, one assist, three ground balls and a caused turnover to the scoresheet in the 20-1 win.
