Men's Cross Country Wins NCAA Southeast Regional Preview

OAKWOOD, GA. – The Anderson University men's cross country team won the NCAA Southeast Regional Preview on Saturday (Sept. 30) in Oakwood, Georgia at the University of North Georgia Cross Country Course. The field, comprised of eight teams, featured three South Atlantic Conference schools including Anderson, Lenoir-Rhyne (third place), and Emory & Henry (seventh place).

The Trojans took home first place with a total team time of 2:09.27, an average time of 25:53, and a score of 45. Daniel Similton's top-five finish (25:28.2) paced the Trojans with Ty Nelson close behind at 25:47.2.

David Williams (26:03.3), Jack Barrett (26:03.3), Jonathan Roberts (26:05.8), and Jake Denteler (26:06.7) ran well as a pack to finish 10th-13th place, respectively. Freshmen Sean McAdams (26:57.7) and Noah Stump (27:34.8) both finished inside the top-30 at 18th and 27th. Dylan Lego rounded things out for the Trojans in 38th place at a pace of 27:55.7.

"Both teams performed well today and executed the race plan almost perfectly," said coach Kevin Eagle. "We just finished up a hard training block this week, so now it is time to sharpen up and get ready for the start of the championship portion of our season. The next five weeks of training are the most important of the year!" 

The Trojans will be back in action Saturday (Oct. 7) as they travel to Huntsville, Alabama for the UAH Invitational. Results can be found at autrojans.com.
