Trojans Ranked 29th in USTFCCCA National Poll; Second in Region Rankings

NEW ORLEANS, LA – The Anderson University men's cross country team has been ranked 29th in the preseason United States Track and Field & Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national poll and second in the Southeast Region Rankings.

"It is nice to be respected by your peers who are in charge of these rankings, but we know that the standings at the end of the year are the only ones that matter," said coach Kevin Eagle. "Finishing inside the top three at the regional meet is the end goal in November, which would qualify us for the NCAA National Championship."

Wingate (No.3 nationally) topped the region top-five, with Anderson, Augusta, Catawba, and Flagler rounding out the rankings. On August 17, the Trojans were selected third in the SAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, behind the defending champion Wingate (12 first place votes) and Catawba (one first place vote). Spain Vaughan and Elliot Dotson were named players to watch for the upcoming season.

The Trojans open the 2023 campaign on Sept. 16 in Spartanburg at the Converse Kick-Off Classic, followed by the NCAA Regional Preview two weeks later in Oakwood, GA on Sept. 30. To wrap up the regular season, Anderson travels to Huntsville, AL for the UAH Charger Invitational on Oct. 7. The SAC XC Championships are set for Oct.21 in Newton, N.C. for the first time since 2017, with the NCAA Regionals on Nov. 4 in Oakwood, GA, and the national championships taking place on Nov.18 in Joplin, MO.
