ROCK HILL, S.C. – Anderson University men's soccer senior Ryan Tyrer was named AstroTurf Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for matches played between Sept. 10 and Sept. 15, announced by the South Atlantic Conference on Tuesday.
Tyrer, a senior from Liverpool, England, was instrumental in the Trojans' two shutout victories last week. Anderson defeated Lees-McRae 3-0 and North Georgia 1-0. Tyrer anchored the backline for 180 minutes of play over the two games, allowing just six combined shots on goal over two games and no goals. This is Tyrer's first defensive player of the week award of the year.
The Trojans open SAC play when they host Newberry on Wednesday at the Anderson Civic Center. Kick-off is slated for 7:30 pm.
