Matthews, N.C. - No. 5 seed Anderson University dropped a 1-0 decision to No. 3 Wingate at the South Atlantic Conference Championship Finals on Sunday afternoon at the Sportsplex Matthews.
With the lost, the Trojans finish the season with a 12-6-1 overall record.
Wingate's Owen Marshall served a beautifully placed ball to teammate Soren Nygaard in the 36th minute of play that Nygaard kicked past AU's Gal Elyashiv. Nygaard's goal proved to be all the offense the Bulldogs would need to take home the title.
The Trojans and Bulldogs each got off 10 shots with three coming on goal. Wingate won the corner kick advantage 5-4.
