ANDERSON, S.C. - The Anderson University men's and women's golf teams are set to host the AU Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Cobb's Glen Country Club in Anderson, S.C.
The men's tournament will feature the host Trojans along with Catawba, Milligan, Spartanburg Methodist, Queens and two teams from Erskine, along with four golfers from AU competing as individuals. The course will consist of a par-72, 7,005-yard layout, with the men teeing off at the first green, Monday at 8:30 a.m.
Tuesday's final round will have a shotgun start.
The Trojan men will look to improve on last year's ninth-place
finish after capturing fourth in 2012. Milligan and Erskine tied
for second last year, as the two squads finished six shots behind
UNC Pembroke. The Flying Fleet also captured second in 2012,
finishing 17 shots behind Flagler. Tusculum, which captured
back-to-back titles in 2010 and 2011, is not competing in this
year's event.
The women's event will consist of the host Trojans alongside
Lincoln Memorial, Erskine, Queens, Brevard, Milligan, Spartanburg
Methodist and Mars Hill. The ladies' layout will be a par-72,
5,940-yard course, with the women teeing off at the 10th green,
Monday at 8:30 a.m.
Anderson's women's squad will be looking to better last year's
fifth-place finish at Cobb's Glen, after placing fourth in 2012.
Queens has finished as runner-up each of the last two years, with
Erskine edging the Royals by one stroke for the team title a year
ago, while Flagler finished just ahead of Queens in 2012.
