HIGH POINT, N.C. - After becoming the third player in program history to earn South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year honors, Anderson University women's basketball senior forward Jennifer Monroe was listed on the D2CCA Women's Basketball All-Southeast Region First Team, voted on by the region's sports information directors and announced by regional director on Monday.
The honor is Monroe's fourth postseason honor of the year, as the Clemson, S.C. native captured the SAC Player of the Year award and landed on the All-SAC First Team prior to the start of the SAC Tournament. After Monroe helped lead the Trojans to the SAC Tournament title game, the forward was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The regional award is Monroe's first of her career, as she becomes the third player from Anderson to land on a regional team. Monroe joins Trojan graduates Alissa Diaz and Sierra Simpson who earned honors in 2013 and 2015, respectively. Diaz eventually was honored by being placed on the Honorable Mention All-America list, as she became the first Trojan to earn All-America status.
Monroe and the rest of the Trojans earned a berth into the NCAA DII Women's Basketball Tournament for the ninth time in program history. No. 5 seeded Anderson defeated No. 4 Clayton State in the opening round while falling to No. 8 Augusta in the NCAA Southeast Region semifinals to end its run. The Black and Gold finished the 2015-16 season with 23-6 overall record.
