Trojans Slip to No. 4 in Southeast Region Media Poll

DURANGO, Colo. - Seeing its first setback of the season on New Year's Eve, Anderson University women's basketball dropped a couple of spots to fourth in the weekly Southeast Region Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, announced by the regional committee on Monday.

The Trojans dropped a 63-49 decision to nationally-ranked Limestone last Thursday, ending a 13-game home winning streak and a stretch of 24 straight regular-season victories. The setback also marked Anderson's third straight to the Saints in the all-time series and just the program's fourth loss in the calendar year.

The Black and Gold remains the top-rated South Atlantic Conference team, as Limestone and a pair of Peach Belt Conference schools finished ahead of the Trojans. The Saints claimed the top spot for the eighth straight week, while Columbus State and Georgia College are slotted second and third, respectively. The Trojans finished just ahead of Clayton State to round out the top-five.

Francis Marion remained sixth, while North Georgia earned the seventh spot for the second straight week. Augusta climbed to eighth after it earned the 10th slot last week, while Carson-Newman landed ninth and ended the stretch of three straight PBC schools. Wingate, which was not rated last week, rounded out the poll in 10th. Missing the top-10, Lander and Armstrong State were receiving votes.
