Softball Drops Two At North Greenville

TIGERVILLE, S.C.– Anderson University softball (0-4) dropped a pair of nonconference games, losing game one, 4-1, and falling in the nightcap, 6-5 (8 innings) against North Greenville (3-1) on Saturday afternoon at Jan MCDonald Field.

"Our team works hard everyday and all I can really say is we just got keep on working hard and grind it out," said head coach Tommy Hewitt.

 "It will come," added Hewitt.  

 Game One

  • North Greenville outhit the Trojans 8-4.
  • The Crusaders scored all four runs in the bottom of the fourth with Anderson's lone run coming in the top of the sixth inning.
  • AU's Carson Hobbs and Shelby Bandt each went 1-for-2.
  • Hobbs (0-2) suffered the loss, giving up seven hits and four earned runs.

 

Game Two

  • The Black and Gold held a 5-2 lead through five innings of play.
  • North Greenville scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at 3-3.
  • The Crusaders were able to push across the winning run the bottom of the eighth to claim the 6-5 win.
  • AU's Bandt and Paige Vickery each recorded two hits apiece for the Trojans.
  • Laken Maxwell (0-2) took the loss, pitching one inning. Maxwell gave up one hit and struck out one.

 

Next Up

Anderson will remain on the road to take on nonconference Young Harris on Wednesday. First-pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 1pm and 3pm.
