EMORY, VA.– Anderson University softball (13-11, 4-0 SAC) used the longball backed by stellar pitching to pick up two road South Atlantic Conference wins over Emory & Henry (9-10, 2-4 SAC) winning game one, 11-0 (6 innings) and defeating the Wasps in the nightcap, 12-3, on Wednesday afternoon at Wasps Field.
Game One
- The Trojans pounded out 11 hits to the Wasps one.
- Anderson scored two runs in the second, four in the third and five in the sixth innings.
- Senior Ava Worthy, junior Maggie Nauck and freshman Paige Vickery(2) hit home runs for the Black and Gold.
- Senior Laken Maxwell (7-5) earned her seventh win of the season giving up just one hit and striking out 10 batters.
Game Two
- AU outhit Emory & Henry 14-5. The Wasps also committed three miscues.
- Vickery(2) and Worthy hit home runs, while junior Maddie Carpenter and sophomore Carson Hobbs hit a double apiece.
- Sophomore Jenna Davis collected three hits while senior Hannah Whitaker went 2-of-4 scoring two runs for the Trojans.
- Graduate Morgen Baker-Celis (5-3) went the distance pitching seven inning. Baker-Celis gave up five hits while striking out 12.
Next Up
Anderson will travel to SAC opponent UVA Wise on Saturday. First-pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 1 pm.
