Women’s Basketball Remains Third in Southeast Region Media Poll

DURANGO, Colo. - Following a pair of key South Atlantic Conference road victories last week, Anderson University women's basketball remained third in the weekly Southeast Region Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, announced by the regional committee on Monday.

The Trojans have opened the season with six straight wins, marking the best start by the program since becoming a four-year institution. With the perfect start to the year, Anderson is the last remaining unbeaten team in the SAC and just one of three teams left within the top-10 of this week's region poll. Within the 6-0 start, AU has totaled 22 straight regular-season victories, dating back to last season.

The top-four in the poll remained the same from last week, as Limestone and Francis Marion are still ahead of the Black and Gold in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively. Following AU is Columbus State in the No. 4 spot, while Armstrong State rounded out the top-five in fifth.

A Peach Belt Conference tandem of Georgia College and Clayton State finished sixth and seventh, respectively, while Carson-Newman earned the eighth spot to round out the SAC representatives. Georgia Southwestern landed ninth, while North Georgia claimed the final spot in 10th. Lander, Emmanuel and Tusculum were receiving votes.

The Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, in its second year of existence. The regional poll will be released every Monday, followed by the national poll every Tuesday. Each region has six representatives that comprise the regional poll. The national poll has 16 voters - 2 from each region.

The Trojans return to action on Wednesday when they meet Coker in a battle for first place in the conference standings. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
