ANDERSON, S.C.– Anderson University softball (17-11, 8-0 SAC) continues to pair strong pitching with timely hitting to stay red hot winning two South Atlantic Conference games against Limestone (16-12,1-7 SAC) taking game one, 8-1, and winning game two, 7-0, on Tuesday afternoon at the AU Softball Complex.
Game One
- The Trojans outhit the Saints 11-5 hitting five extra base hits (2 doubles and 3 home runs).
- Junior Maddie Carpenter went 2-for-4 with a double and home run. Sophomore Carson Hobbs, freshman Paige Vickery and senior Hannah Whitaker each collected two hits with Whitaker hitting her seventh home run of the season.
- Anderson scored two runs in the first, four runs in the third and two runs in the sixth inning. Limestone's lone run came in the fourth.
- Senior Laken Maxwell (9-5) pitch 6.0 innings giving up four hits and striking out 10 batters. Hobbs pitched the final inning allowing one hit and striking out two.
Game Two
- AU added four more extra base hits to its total. Hobbs and Whitaker added two doubles while Carpenter and Worthy added to the home run total.
- Sophomore Shelby Bandt went 2-for-4 scoring two run for the Black and Gold.
- Anderson outhit Limestone 8-5.
- Graduate Morgen Baker-Celis (7-3) pitched a complete game shutout. Baker-Celis gave up five hits while striking out four.
Next Up
Anderson will travel to SAC foe Wingate on Saturday. First-pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 1 pm.
