Women’s Basketball Climbs to Third in Southeast Region Media Poll

ANDERSON, S.C. - After extending its South Atlantic Conference regular-season win streak to 26 games, the league-leading Anderson women's basketball team climbed one spot to third in the most recent weekly Southeast Region Media Poll, as announced by the regional committee Monday afternoon.

Undefeated and top-ranked Limestone maintained its hold on the top spot, with Clayton State continuing its ascent up the poll and landing at No. 2 this week after holding the third slot last week and occupying fifth place two weeks ago. The Trojans crept upward one spot to third after claiming conference wins over Lincoln Memorial and Wingate. Columbus State fell from second to fourth after dropping a pair of Peach Belt Conference decisions on the road last week.

Francis Marion and Georgia College swapped standings from a week ago, as the Patriots inched up to fifth, with GC falling one spot to sixth. Wingate, which was seventh a week ago, fell out of the top-10 after losing two league decisions. Augusta made an appearance in the poll at No. 7 after not being ranked last week. Carson-Newman, the only other SAC school earning a spot in the weekly poll, checked in at No. 8, while Lander and North Georgia rounded out the standings.

Anderson will get back in action on Wednesday, when the Trojans wrap up their two-game homestand by playing host to South Atlantic Conference-foe Carson-Newman. Tip-off at the Abney Athletic Center is slated for 6 p.m.
