ANDERSON, S.C. - In the second Southeast Region rankings released
by the NCAA on Wednesday, Anderson University women's basketball
remained fourth.
In-state rival Limestone claimed the top spot in the ranking, as
it holds a 25-0 overall record while Peach Belt Conference leaders,
Columbus State and Clayton State, took the No. 2 and No. 3
positions respectively, with identical overall records of 20-4.
The Trojans are the highest rated South Atlantic Conference team
in the weekly rankings, as they hold a 19-4 overall record entering
Wednesday's home contest with Lincoln Memorial. The Trojans have
already clinched the SAC regular season title.
Lander was slotted fifth while Augusta and Francis Marion hold
onto the sixth and seventh spots. Wingate replaces Carson-Newman at
the eighth spot as the Eagles tumbled out of the rankings. North
Georgia holds steady at No. 9 with SAC member Catawba bumping
Georgia College out of the 10th spot.
The regional rankings are scheduled to be released weekly on
Wednesdays through March 2, with the NCAA D-II Tournament
selections scheduled to be unveiled on Sunday, March 6.
Eight teams from each of the eight regions will advance to the
NCAA Division II tournament. In the Southeast Region, the
tournament champions from the SAC, Peach Belt, and Conference
Carolinas will receive an automatic bid, with five more at-large
selections.
