ANDERSON, S.C. - Adding on to its best start to a season since becoming a four-year institution with a pair of South Atlantic Conference road wins last week, Anderson University women's basketball continues to receive national attention, as the Trojans earned the No. 17 spot in the USA TODAY Sports NCAA Division II Top-25 Poll and the No. 22 position in the Division II Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, announced by both committees on Tuesday.
AU enters the week with a perfect 6-0 record for the season with three games remaining on the 2015 side of the schedule. With the winning streak, the Trojans are the last remaining unbeaten team in the conference and one of 14 teams across the country that have yet to face a setback this season. Anderson has captured wins in its last 22 regular-season games, dating back to last year.
Despite adding a pair of conference road wins last week, the Black and Gold dropped a spot to No. 17 in this week's coaches' poll. Anderson is one of three teams from the Southeast Region to land in the top-25 in the poll, as Limestone claimed the No. 8 spot following its perfect 8-0 start and Columbus State was slotted 15th. Francis Marion, Carson-Newman and Lander were all receiving votes and just missed the Top-25.
In the media poll, Anderson moved up a pair of spots from last week's poll when it re-entered the Top-25 after missing the poll since the preseason. Three teams from the Southeast Region cracked the Top-25 with Limestone dropping a spot to No. 2, while Francis Marion claimed the No. 15 slot after its perfect 8-0 start to the year. Columbus State received a vote and just missed jumping back into the poll.
The Trojans look to continue their winning ways on Wednesday when they host Coker in a matchup of two unbeaten teams in conference play. Tip-off at the Abney Athletic Center is slated for 6 p.m.
