Bears Snap Trojans Six Game Win Streak; 77-67

HICKORY, N.C. – Anderson (17-4, 9-4 SAC) had its six straight South Atlantic Conference game win streak snapped by the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears (16-6, 11-3 SAC) falling, 77-67, on Wednesday evening at Shuford Arena.

Proud of our team tonight," said head coach Jonathon Barbaree. "I thought fought hard all game."

"We need to have short term memory and get ready for the next one," added Barbaree.

Lenoir-Rhyne erased a 17-point second quarter lead to avenge a loss to the Trojans in late January. Two made layups in the waning seconds of the third quarter gave the Bears a three point advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

Anderson briefly regained the lead around the 7:30 mark before LR took control and held on to defeat the Trojans, 77-67.

Senior Zamiya Passmore scored a team-high 18 points shooting 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Passmore also added four assists and four rebounds. Junior Diamond McDowell recorded her 12th double-double scoring 17 points and ripping down 12 rebounds. McDowell was also credited with five steals, four blocked shots and three assists. Sophomore Ashlyn Sheridan netted 12 points while graduate Brittney Stafford chipped in 10 rebounds and seven rebounds.

LR's Emily Harmon scored a game-high 24 points with Blaikley Crooks netting 22 points. Mikeba Jones reached a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards.

Anderson returns home to host league leader Catawba Saturday for PLAY4KAY day. Tip-off is slated for 2 pm.
