Anderson Falls to Newberry in SAC Quarterfinals

NEWBERRY, S.C. -- The Trojans traveled to Newberry for the first round of the South Atlantic Conference tournament on Saturday night and ultimately fell short of the Wolves, 20-14, concluding their 2024 campaign.

Graduate-transfer Tristan Kirkham (Langley, B.C.) led Anderson's offense with four goals, followed by sophomores Radyn Badraun (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and Ryan Bitterman (Alpharetta, Ga.) who each tallied hat tricks.

The Trojans trailed 4-2 after the first fifteen but came back to outscore the Wolves 4-3 in the second quarter. Badraun opened the scoring in the second half, leveling the score at 7-7. Newberry responded, totaling six goals in the third and seven in the fourth quarter, to amount to a lead the Trojans could not come back from. The Wolves pulled away, claiming a 20-14 victory and spot in the SAC Semifinals.

The loss wraps up Year 4 of Anderson's men's lacrosse program. The Trojans ended the season 7-9 overall and 5-4 in SAC play, scoring 219 goals from 471 SOG for a 56.2 shot-on-goal percentage. The Black and Gold totaled 628 ground balls, forced 149 turnovers and recorded program-highs in faceoffs (winning 292 of 456, 64.0%) and clears (completing 294 of 327, 89.9%).

Anderson will graduate 17 seniors from their program in May, 14 of which made up the program's inaugural recruiting class in 2020.
