HARTSVILLE, S.C. – In its first conference road matchup of the spring, Anderson men's tennis (4-4, 0-3 SAC) fell by a 5-2 final score at the hands of the Coker Cobras (2-7, 1-2 SAC) on Wednesday afternoon. Coker took the opening doubles point before racing to a quick 4-1 lead, which clinched the dual match.
In doubles, the Cobras started strong by taking matches at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. AU was able to secure a victory in a set tiebreak at No. 2 behind the efforts of Patrick Cronin and Vicent Mico.
Coker began singles with wins at No. 3 and No. 5 before AU got on the board. Mico dispatched his opponent at the No. 1 position in straight sets, improving to a 3-0 singles record against SAC opponents.
Following the match being clinched with a Cobra victory at the No. 2 spot, junior Mathis Collignon earned his second straight singles win by a 6-4, 6-2 score at No. 4. The match at No. 6 went the way of Coker, in a third set tiebreaker.
