HARTSVILLE, S.C. - With four players in double figures and
matching its second highest 3-point percentage of the season at
46.7 percent, Anderson University women's basketball clinched the
season sweep of Coker with a 76-46 road victory Saturday afternoon
at the DeLoach Center.
The victory is Anderson's fourth straight win since losing on
the road to Mars Hill moving its record to 16-3 and 14-2 in the
South Atlantic Coast Conference. With the win, the Black and Gold
hold a three game lead with six games remaining. Coker drops to
8-14 overall and 7-9 in SAC play.
"I was really happy with the way we played today against a
tough, physical Coker team," Anderson head coach Jimmy Garrity
said. "I thought we did a great job executing our offense and I was
happy with the way we shot the ball."
Senior forward Jennifer Monroe paced the Anderson attack with a
game-high 17 points and grabbing six rebounds. Junior forward
Alexis Dillard recorded her third double-double of the season with
12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Senior Madison Floyd tallied
12 points and pulled down five rebounds while junior Heather
Jankowy netted 10 points and dished out a game-high seven
assists.
Anderson held Coker's offense to 27.1 percent for the game with
only one Cobra player reaching double figures. Freshman forward
Danielle Luczak scored 11 points and had six rebounds off the bench
for Coker. The Black and Gold were able to capitalize on the
Cobra"s 15 turnovers converting them into 28 points.
"I thought our defense was outstanding," noted Garrity. "We did
a great job following the scouting report and converting points off
of their turnovers."
The Trojans return to the hardwood on Wednesday when they travel to Carson Newman. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
