Trojans Overcome Hot Start By Wasps To Win By 18; 82-64

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson women's basketball (13-3, 5-3 SAC) overcame a hot start by Emory & Henry (8-9, 3-6 SAC) with the Wasps shooting 58% from the field to take an early 26-19 advantage over the Trojans. Anderson was able to make the appropriate adjustments to earn its second straight South Atlantic Conference win, 82-64, on Saturday afternoon at the Abney Athletic Center.

"Good win today," exclaimed head coach Jonathon Barbaree.

"We made some adjustments and bought in hard on defense and blocking out," stated Barbaree. "We didn't settle when the 3's weren't falling and continued to get to the rim."

Anderson responded with a 48-22 outburst over the second and third quarters of play to claim a 69-48 lead heading into the final period of action. The Black and Gold maintained at least a 20-point lead the majority of the to earn their second SAC win in a row.

Junior Diamond McDowell scored a game-high 19 points while pulling down 10 rebounds to record her eighth double-double of the season. Senior Nelliah Wilson dropped in 18 points and ripped down 14 rebounds to record her seventh double-double of the year. Wilson also was credited with four blocked shots for the fourth time this year. Graduate Brittney Stafford netted 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Freshman Peytyn Oliver chipped in a career-high 10 points which include hitting 2-of-5 three-point shots. Senior Zamiya Passmore equaled her career-high with 14 assists. Passmore also chased down six rebounds, was credited with five steals and added five points in the winning effort.

Emory & Henry's Emma Santoro scored a team-high 16-points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Chelsi Hodges also scored in double digits with 13 points.

Anderson remains at home to host SAC opponent Lenoir-Rhyne. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 pm.
