Trojans Tame Lions Finding Another SAC Victory

MARS HILL, N.C. -- Anderson's men's lacrosse team picked up another South Atlantic Conference victory on Saturday (April 13), defeating Mars Hill 17-6.

"Great to see so many guys contribute in so many different ways," said head coach Albert Mitchell. "Great team win from top to bottom."

The scoring started slow, with Logan Gaddis (Norcross, Ga.)'s unassisted goal being the only of the first 15 minutes of play. The Trojans picked up the pace, however, netting five in the second quarter from the likes of PJ Fenchak (Lutherville Timonium, Md.), Ryan Bitterman (Alpharetta, Ga.), Brayden Bushnoe (Myrtle Beach, S.C.), Ryan Gundersen (Waxhaw, N.C.) and Tristan Kirkham (Langley, B.C.). The Black and Gold entered the second half with a 6-0 lead.

The second half saw eleven more Trojan goals, including braces from Gaddis, Bitterman, Gundersen, Fenchak and Kirkham. Zane Ratliff (Roanoke, Va.) and Jacob Angulo (Miami, Fla.) both notched their first goals of the season, adding to the AU tally.

In goal for the Trojans, Hunter Klosterman (Cumming, Ga.) made five saves on the afternoon, while Joey Heckel (Easton, Pa.) added six saves to his season resume. The Trojans totaled 45 ground balls, won 15 of 27 faceoffs and completed 26 of 30 clears successfully.

Anderson will wrap up its regular season at home on Wednesday (April 17) against No. 7 Newberry at 7:00 PM.
