Women’s Basketball Climbs to No. 17 in WBCA National Poll

LILBURN, Ga. - After a perfect 2-0 start to the season, Anderson University women's basketball continues to move up in the USA TODAY Sports NCAA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, landing in the No. 17 spot, announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Tuesday.

The Trojans bolt two spots from last week's poll and earn their highest ranking since finishing fourth in the final 2004-05 poll. In this week's poll, AU is one of 16 teams without a loss.

With the fewest games played than any team in the Top 25, Anderson has wins over archrival Erskine and Mars Hill for the campaign with seven games on tap for the month of December. In addition to the impressive start to the year, AU brings into its next contest an 18-game winning streak in regular season contest and has not dropped a home game since Jan. 3, 2015.

Anderson is joined by South Atlantic Conference rival Carson-Newman within the Top 25, as the Eagles dropped a spot following their setback to Lincoln Memorial last week. Limestone (No. 9) and Columbus State (No. 16) finished ahead of AU in the poll to round out the representation from the Southeast Region.

The Trojans look to continue their fast start on Thursday when they host Peach Belt Conference foe USC Aiken. Tip-off from the Abney Athletic Center is scheduled for 6 p.m.
