Monroe Tabbed AstroTurf SAC Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Nearly averaging a double-double for the week, Anderson University women's basketball senior Jennifer Monroe was named AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week for games played Dec. 7-13, announced by the conference office on Monday.

Monroe shined in Anderson's back-to-back road victories over conference rivals Tusculum (59-56) and Newberry (68-61). The forward opened the week with her third collegiate double-double, dropping in 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the narrow victory over the Pioneers on Wednesday. Following that performance, Monroe just missed her second double-double of the week with a team-high 18 points and nine rebounds against the Wolves on Saturday.

Monroe, who earned his first weekly honor from the conference in her career, currently ranks seventh in the SAC in rebounds per game with a 7.7 mark, while also ranking 10th in blocks with six. The Clemson, S.C. native has scored in double figures three times this season and totaled a career-high in minutes played against Newberry with 37.

The forward has been a key contributor to the starting rotation for the Trojans, as they are off to their best start since becoming a four-year institution with six straight wins to open the season. AU has currently won its last 22 regular-season games, dating back to last season, including its last 20 regular-season conference games.

Monroe and the rest of the Trojans return to the Abney Athletic Center hardwood on Wednesday when they welcome Coker in a matchup that features to top-two teams in the current league standings. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
