Trojans Climb to No. 2 in Southeast Region Media Poll

DURANGO, Colo. - After a pair of South Atlantic Conference victories last week, Anderson University women's basketball jumped one spot to No. 2 in the weekly Southeast Region Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, announced by the regional committee on Monday.

The Trojans are off to their best start in their NCAA era with eight straight victories to open the season, including six within the conference. In addition to the perfect start to the year, AU was captured 24 straight regular-season wins, dating back to last season, including 22 straight regular-season conference victories. With the winning streak, Anderson is one of nine teams in the country with undefeated overall records.

Limestone, which visits the Abney Athletic Center on New Year's Eve, continues to maintain the top spot in the poll, while Columbus State and Georgia College are even in the third spot just behind the Trojans. Clayton State earned the fifth position, while Francis Marion, which was rated second in last week's poll, landed sixth following its first setback of the season on Saturday.

Peach Belt Conference members North Georgia and Lander follow the Patriots in seventh and eighth, respectively, while Carson-Newman is in ninth to round out the SAC contingent in the poll. Augusta closed out the poll in the 10th slot after not making the Top-10 last week. Tusculum, Coker and Armstrong State were receiving votes.

The Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, in its second year of existence. The regional poll will be released every Monday, followed by the national poll every Tuesday. Each region has six representatives that comprise the regional poll. The national poll has 16 voters - 2 from each region.

The Trojans return to action against the Saints in a rematch of last season's Sweet 16 tilt. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
