Rock Hill, S.C. - Anderson University women's basketball junior Heather Jankowy was named AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week for games played Jan. 11-17, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Jankowy averaged 22.5 points, five rebounds and 5.5 assists on the week to help lead the league-leading Trojans to a pair of South Atlantic Conference victories and stretch AU's SAC win streak to 26 games.
On the week, Jankowy was 13-of-26 from the field, including 7-of-12 (58.3%) from beyond the arc and was 12-of-15 (80.0%) at the line.
In the road win over LMU, the 5-foot-6 guard led Anderson in scoring with a then-season high 22 points, while grabbing five boards and dishing out four assists. Jankowy scored the final five points of the second overtime to finish off the Railsplitters. She followed up by equaling her career-high with a game-best 23 points, including 15 in the decisive second half in Saturday's win over Wingate.
The Walhalla, S.C., native also dished out a game-high seven
assists and grabbed five rebounds. Jankowy currently ranks sixth in
the conference in 3-pointers (29) and in assists (51).
Jankowy and the rest of the Trojans return to the Abney Athletic
Center on Wednesday when they welcome Carson-Newman, which is
currently third in league play. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
