Women's Cross Country Wins NCAA Southeast Regional Preview

OAKWOOD, GA. - The Anderson University women's cross country team won the NCAA Southeast Regional Preview on Saturday (Sept. 30) in Oakwood, Georgia at the University of North Georgia Cross Country Course.

The Trojans took home first place with a total team time of 1:56.13, an average time of 23:14, and a score of 31. Four Trojans finished inside the top-seven, with Kennedy Roush (22:44.9) and Emma Whitaker (22:56.5) leading the way to take second and third place. Emily Golden (23:23.4) and Sarah Rudolph (23:23.5) also ran step-by-step to finish 6th and 7th place.

Faith Nelson finished just outside of the top-10 for 13th at a pace of 23:47.6. Mclayne Wyatt came in 32nd with a time of 25:12.2, and Hagan Wilson at 45th (25:55.2). Hannah Reedy (26:03.9), Madison Crumley (26:34.5), and Hannah Williams (27:35.7) rounded things out for the Trojans.

"Both teams performed well today and executed the race plan almost perfectly," said coach Kevin Eagle. "We just finished up a hard training block this week, so now it is time to sharpen up and get ready for the start of the championship portion of our season. The next five weeks of training are the most important of the year!" 

The Trojans will be back in action Saturday (Oct. 7) as they travel to Huntsville, Alabama for the UAH Invitational. Results can be found at autrojans.com.
