Women’s Golf in 14th After Day One of Ann Rhoads Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Anderson University women's golf team opened its spring slate Sunday at Birmingham Southern's Ann Rhoads Invitational and the Trojans find themselves in 14th place following a first-round 384 at the par 72, 5,809-yard Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Oxmoor Valley.

Battling cold temperatures and wet, windy conditions sophomore Katie Eskew led the Trojan effort with an opening-round 93 and sits in a tie for 49th, while senior Laura Buyers is tied for 65th after carding a first-round 96.

Freshman Sarah Timms fired a first-round 97 and is tied for 69th, with senior Kalyn Johnson (98) one shot further back in 74th place.

The University of Indianapolis leads the event after opening with a 332 and leads Tennessee Tech by five strokes, while Montevallo's Ashlee Beck (81) leads five others who are tied at 82 for medalist honors.

The final round will take place Tuesday.


RESULTS
