Women’s Golf in Eighth Place at Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate

SUNSET BEACH, N.C. - The Anderson women's golf team fired an opening round total 326 and sits in eighth place at the 2011 Myrtle Beach Golf Intercollegiate hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne at the 5,988 yard par-72 Sea Trail Golf Resort.

Senior Kalyn Johnson's six-over par 78 led the Trojans, with the Canton, Ga., native sitting in a six-way tie for 17th entering Tuesday's final round. She is just five shots off the pace set by Tusculum's Emee Herbert, who claimed second at AU's Invitational last month.

Fellow senior Laura Buyers carded a first-round 81 and shares 30th place, while junior Lindsay Parks posted an 11-over 83 on Monday to garner a tie for 43rd.

Sophomore Katie Eskew notched an 84 to earn the 53rd spot and freshman Sarah Timms carded an 86 to sit in a tie for 63rd heading into Tuesday's final round.

The tournament concludes on Tuesday.

RESULTS
