Dembroski Captures Rader Intercollegiate

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Anderson senior Sophie Dembroski shot a career-best second-round 70 as the Gahanna, Ohio, native claimed individual medalist honors at the Dana Rader Intercollegiate hosted by Pfeiffer at the par-72 5,830 yard Ballantyne Golf Resort in Charlotte, N.C. Dembroski, who began the day in a tie for 11th, notched five birdies and shaved eight strokes off her opening-round 78 to shoot a low-round 70 and help lead the Trojans to a school-record 309 on the final day of action in Charlotte. As a team, the Trojans trimmed 24 strokes off Monday's first round (333-309=642), finishing just two strokes behind runner-up UNC Pembroke (315-325=640). Anderson opened the final round in fifth place, but stormed into third with the stellar closing round Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore Kalyn Johnson carded a final round 82, slipping four shots but actually moved up one spot to grab a share of 10th place, while sophomore Laura Buyers sliced nine strokes from yesterday's round to shoot a 78 and finish in a two-way tie for 20th. Hayley Parks and teammate Caroline Seymour each trimmed 11 and nine strokes, respectively, from Monday's round to finish tied for 28th and 50th. Anderson is scheduled to get back on the links March 29-30 at the J. Ralph Hargett Memorial hosted by Wingate at the Old Sycamore Golf Plantation.
