SAISBURY, N.C. -- The Anderson women's golf team wrapped up the 2009 Patsy Rendleman Invitational golf tournament in ninth place Tuesday afternoon. Catawba College hosted the event at the 5,983-yard, Par-72 Country Club of Salisbury. Newberry (306-311=617) shot a combined 41 over-par to claim the team title, two strokes ahead of Belmont Abbey (311-308=619). Carson-Newman (322-309=631) moved from sixth to third by shaving 13 strokes off its opening round total. Sophie Dembroski (74-88=162) slipped into a share of 25th with her two-day total, while sophomore Laura Buyers (83-84=167) garnered a share of 33rd with her steady play on the wet course. Sophomore Hayley Parks (84-90=174) finished the event in a tie for 38th and freshman Lindsay Parks posted a final round 91 to go with her first-round 85, finishing alone in 42nd. AU sophomore Kalyn Johnson (85-91=176) garnered a share of 51st. Anderson will get back on the links on Oct. 23-24 at the Boscobel Intercollegiate in nearby Pendleton. Fin.
