ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson wrapped day one of the AU Invitational in fourth place after carding a team score of 342 strokes over its first round on Monday. Sophomore Haley Parks sits in a tie for third place on the individual leaderboard after carding a round of nine-over 81 to put her in the clubhouse. No golfer finished the day under par, thanks to the challenging Cobb's Glen course. "We had some good moments, but this wasn't our best day" said Anderson head coach Danny Neal. "I think it was a case of first-tournament jitters and we'll calm down tomorrow. Sometimes the players feel a little pressure and try to do too much in front of the home crowd." The Trojans also got solid showings from sophomore Kalyn Johnson and a pair of seniors, Caroline Seymour and Sophie Dembroski. Johnson, a native of Canton, Ga. is alone in 15th after carding a 13-over 85 on the day. Seymour shot a first round 86, while Dembroski recorded a score of 90 in her 18 holes. Both golfers are now tied for 25th overall. Sophomore Anna Jenks finished the day at 19-over par, putting her in a share of 30th place. Anderson's team score of 345 puts them five strokes ahead over fifth-place Spartanburg Methodist. The Trojans will need to make up just three strokes tomorrow to catch third-place Lincoln Memorial, and eight strokes to match Tusculum for the second spot. Lenoir-Rhyne leads the event with 329 strokes (+41). The teams are back on the course for final-round action with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Fin.
