Pfeiffer Rallies To Take AU Women's Title

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Pfeiffer rallied from a 13-shot deficit to win the 2007 Anderson University Women's Invitational Tuesday at Brookstone Meadows. The Falcons shot 330 in the second round on the par-72, 6,100-yard Brookstone course to get past first-round leader Armstrong Atlantic State and take the title. Pfeiffer finished at 654, while Armstrong Atlantic slumped to a 351 in the second round to finish at 662. Tusculum was third at 672, host Anderson was fourth at 686, and Spartanburg Methodist was fifth at 689. Windy conditions took the scores higher Tuesday. Anderson was the only team in the nine-team field to improve its team score in the second round. Brittany Beltran of Pfeiffer matched par in the second round to finish at 150 and take the individual title. Anderson's Sophie Dembroski finished second at 159. Christina Crovetti of UNC Pembroke, Kristin Moberg of Mount Olive, and Carrie George of Armstrong Atlantic finished in a tie for third at 160. First-round leader Katherine Hooks of Armstrong Atlantic, who shot 69 Monday, did not play in the second round. 2007 AU Women's Invitational Final Results
