Men’s Cross Country Claims Sixth at Conference Championships

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - Paced by junior Parks Edwards, the Anderson men's cross country team finished sixth at the 2012 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Cross Country Championships, hosted by Tusculum Saturday morning on the school's campus.

Mars Hill continued its dominance on the men's side, capturing its 16th-straight title in the 8K event. Wingate finished second, with Lenoir-Rhyne, Lincoln Memorial and Brevard rounding out the top half of the championship results.

Edwards (27:35.4) crossed the line in eighth, earning All-SAC Second Team honors in the process and finished just one-tenth of a second from garnering first-team accolades.

Joshua Visi-Clark (28:21.8) crossed the line in 24th, while junior Kyle Koby earned 35th with a time of 28:58.2.

Senior Alex Pena (29:05.6), senior Ryne Welch (29:08.0) and junior Drew Mahaffey (29:09.0) finished as a group, crossing the line in 40th, 41st and 42nd, respectively. Freshman Tucker Huellmantel (29":23.2) finished 45th and junior Matt Imes (31:02.7) finished 65th.
