Athletic Department Announces New Director of Strength and Conditioning

ANDERSON, SC – Anderson University Vice President for Athletics Dr. Bert Epting today announced the hiring of a new Director of Strength and Conditioning for the Trojan Athletic Department.

Caleb Phillips joins AU after serving as Director of Discipleship and Athletic Ministries/Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) on the campus of North Greenville University. Prior to that role, Phillips worked in various positions in the North Greenville athletic department, including Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Media Ministry and a Master's Degree in Christian Ministry from NGU in 2013 and 2016, respectively.

"Caleb's experience as a collegiate athlete, his impeccable credentials as a certified strength and conditioning specialist and a demonstrated commitment to the ideals of Christian higher education make him a perfect fit to join the Trojan family," Dr. Epting said. "I look forward to working with him in continuing a tradition of athletic excellence at AU."

In his role with FCA, Phillips oversaw all ministry operations for more than 500 student-athletes and coaches at North Greenville, where he also taught Physical Education and Strength and Conditioning courses as an adjunct faculty member.

Phillips is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and was a member of North Greenville's NCCAA championship baseball team in 2010, and runner-up in 2011. He was the Crusaders' team chaplain from 2009 until 2013.

Phillips officially joins AU on June 1.
