ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University men's basketball junior Gage Ellis and women's basketball standout Alexis Dillard have been named to the Anderson Federal Credit Union Gold Standard for their outstanding performances in the month of December.
Ellis averaged a team-high 17.2 points per game, while starting all six games during the month. The Greenville, S.C., native was 37-of-67 (55.2 percent) from the field and 26-of-39 (66.7 percent) from the free throw line, while averaging three rebounds per contest.
He reached double figures in the scoring column in all but one of the six contests, while pouring in a season-high 34 points in the road setback at Lees-McRae in late December. Ellis connected on a season-high 12 field goals and was 8-of-10 from the free throw stripe against the Bobcats. He has led the Trojans in scoring on five occasions and in assists three times this season, while ranking 12th in the South Atlantic Conference with his 14.8 points per game average.
Dillard averaged a double-double for the month with 10 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, shooting 23-of-41(56.1%) from the field. Dillard started all six contests averaging 27.2 minutes per game.
The native of Taylors, S.C., recorded three double-doubles during the span highlighted by a 22 point/15 rebound outing against Queens. Dillard's outstanding play earned her the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Player of the Week in early December.
For her career, Dillard has moved up on multiple Anderson all-time career record lists. She ranks No. 1 in blocks (159) and defensive rebounds (551), No. 4 in total rebounds (805), No. 7 in offensive rebounds (249) and is tied for seventh in games started (99). The Trojan forward is 36 points shy of becoming Anderson's 13th 1,000-point scorer.
