Cross Country in Charlotte for Second Consecutive Outing

ANDERSON, S.C. - Following a two-week layoff, the Anderson men's and women's cross country teams return to Charlotte, N.C. to compete at the Royals Cross Country Challenge, hosted by Queens University of Charlotte on Friday.

The Trojan women are coming off a 10th-place showing at the Charlotte Invitational two weeks ago, as freshman Olivia Gardner paced the squad for the third time in as many outings. The native of Tarpon Springs, Fla. claimed 20th at the event, while junior Sydney Hazel finished 23rd. Another newcomer, Bari Robinson captured 47th, while senior Hannah Robles crossed the line in 62nd. Freshmen Grace Gerlock and Amber Worthy finished 66th and 80th, respectively, with sophomore Devan Fisher crossing the line in the 86th spot. Competing in the Green Division, freshman Mia Swiersz finished 28th.

The men's squad, which is currently ranked 10th in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) DII Southeast Region Rankings, finished ninth at the Charlotte Invitational.

Freshman Boerma crossed the line in 37th, while senior Parks Edwards placed 45th and junior Joshua Visi-Clark captured 61st. Freshman Jesse Patrick posted a season-best time and placed 66th, with fellow newcomer Ned Kennedy also notching a season-best and crossing the line in 69th. Newcomer Thomas Garrigan took 73rd and freshman Westley Wilson rounded out the Trojan contingent in the Gold Division in 74th. Competing in the Green Division, sophomore Tucker Huellmantel posted a 16th-place finish and freshman Michael Burch placed 22nd.
