Augusta St. Women, Clayton St. Men Take Titles

ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Augusta State women and the Clayton State men took home the team titles in Trojan Cross Country Invitational at the Civic Center of Anderson course Saturday morning. In the women's 5K race, Augusta State placed three runners in the top 10 and five in top 16 to win the title with 48 points. Following Augusta State were Wingate, Lander, Clayton State, St. Andrews Presbyterian, UNC Pembroke, Anderson, Coker, Carson-Newman, Newberry, and Georgia Southwestern. Jenafer Forward (3rd, 19:25), Kara Kreutzer (7th, 20:04), and Savannah Sutton (20:10, 9th) all finished in the top 10 for Augusta State. Allison Kreutzer of Clayton State won the individual title with a time of 18:17, 38 seconds in front of Whitney Bishoff of Anderson. In the men's 8K race, Clayton State placed three runners in the top six on its way to a winning score of 48 points. Following the Lakers were Wingate, St. Andrews Presbyterian, Anderson, Coker, UNC Pembroke, and Newberry. Fidelis Mutiso (3rd, 26:33), Joey Chino (5th, 26:35), and Anthony Auilar (6th, 26:46) led the Lakers. Mitch Cooper of St. Andrews won the individual title with a time of 25:55. Cooper was the lone runner to break the 25-minute mark in the race. Jayce Watson of Wingate finished second with a time of 26:05. Anderson's top finisher was Nate Parsons, who came in seventh with a time of 27:17.
