AU WOMEN'S GOLF WITH STRONG FIRST DAY IN FL

TAMPA, FL--The Anderson University women's golf team have traveled to Florida this week to show their stripes amongst the nation's top golfing schools, and, as the only NCAA Division II team competing in Northern Illinois' Snowbird Intercollegiate Invitational, the Trojan women showed that they are competitors. Freshman Laura Buyers led the Trojans on the day; she posted a 41 and a 43, putting her in a tie for 41st. The experience they may garner will go a long way in contending for a Conference Carolinas title in April. "Most of all, I just want them to play well relative to what I know their talent level is," said head golf coach, Danny Neal. "They are playing in what is mainly a D-I tournament, so I just want to see them post good, solid scores." The opening tee-time is set for 8:43am, and only 11 strokes separate the Lady Trojans from a top 10 finish. 1 Stetson University 309 Georgetown U. 309 3 Longwood University 312 Northern Illinois U. 312 5 Gonzaga University 317 6 Appalachian State U. 319 Weber State Univ. 319 8 Youngstown State 327 9 Minnesota State Univ 329 10 Western Illinois U. 330 11 Rutgers University 331 12 Creighton University 336 13 Anderson Univ.
