Women’s Basketball Inks Koerperich for 2014-15

ANDERSON, S.C. - After completing his first season as the head coach of the Anderson University women's basketball team, Jimmy Garrity has announced the signing of Kaylee Koerperich to the 2014-15 roster, announced by the coach on Tuesday.

"I am excited to welcome Kaylee Koerperich to our women's basketball program," Garrity said. "She comes from a great high school program in West Craven and is teammates with Jasmine Raynor, who signed with us in the fall."

During her final season at West Craven High School in Vanceboro, N.C., Koerperich averaged 7.8 points per game, 1.1 assists per game and 8.4 rebounds per game, while defensively averaging 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks. The post player was named to the all-conference team three times, while being picked to the NCHSAA 3A Eastern all-regional team twice. Koerperich was a main component to West Craven's three conference championships and two state Final Four appearances.

"Kaylee has tremendous work ethic day in and day out," Garrity added. "She is a post player that not only brings a tremendous amount of athleticism but show great toughness on the court. She has the ability to hit the outside jumper and can drive it from the high post. She does a great job of rebounding out of her area, which says a lot about her desire and effort when playing. Coach David Fernandez has done a fantastic job of developing her game. I am really excited about her growth as a player during her four years at Anderson."

Coach Garrity and the Trojans wrapped up their 2013-14 season in March after advancing to the semifinals of the 2014 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament where it was eliminated by eventual SAC champion, Wingate. AU looks to bounce back from its postseason exit in 2014-15 when it opens the season in November.
