Women’s Hoops Game Notes Released for Liberty

ANDERSON, S.C. -- The game notes for the Anderson University women's basketball exhibition with Division I opponent Liberty on Thursday have been released.

Snapping a two-game losing streak with a convincing 87-55 victory over South Atlantic Conference favorite Newberry on Saturday, the Trojans step away from their regular season schedule to play their second of two midseason exhibitions. After suffering a 78-67 setback to Furman in its first exhibition on Dec. 30, AU heads to Big South Conference power Liberty on Dec. 12 for a noon tip-off.

Liberty (4-5, 1-0 BSC) is winners of four of its last five, capped off by its first Big South win over in-state rival Radford on Saturday (70-49). The Flames were projected to claim their third straight Big South title in 2013-14 after finishing 27-7 and earning a berth into the NCAA Tournament a season ago.

LU carries a trio of players above 6-foot-4 as redshirt sophomore Ashley Rininger, who stands 6-foot-4 leads the team, averaging 15.7 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per game. Classmates Katelyn Adams (6-foot-5) and Catherine Kearney (6-foot-6) averages 7.4 and 5.6 rebounds per game, respectively, as LU controls the rebound battle against its opponents by a +16.8 margin.
