Tuskegee, Ala. – Anderson University softball (21-11) salvaged a nonconference doubleheader matchup with Tuskegee (11-14) dropping game one, 5-2, and winning game two, 13-10 (8), on Tuesday afternoon at the TU Softball Field.
In game one, Tuskegee outhit the Trojans eight to two with Anderson's only two runs of the game coming off of bases loaded walks.
Freshman Carson Hobbs (9-5) suffered the loss giving up eight hits and striking out two batters.
In game two, Anderson fell behind 3-0 before putting up a five spot in the third inning, adding two more in the fourth inning. Tuskegee led 9-7 heading into the seventh inning. The Trojans used three hits and an error to tie the game at 9-9. The Black and Gold held Tuskegee scoreless in the bottom half of its inning.
The Trojans scored four runs in the top of the eighth and held Tuskegee to just one run to earn the 13-10 victory.
Junior Lane Edgington (8-4) earned the win after re-entering the game pitching a total of six innings. Sophomore Trinity Queen was responsible for the fifth and sixth innings.
Senior Kayson Boatner and freshman Lauren Brakovec picked up multiple hits for the Black and Gold
Anderson will return to action on Saturday when it hosts South Atlantic Conference opponent Emory & Henry. First-pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 12pm.
