Softball Wins Two at UVA Wise

Wise, Va. – Anderson University softball swept a South Atlantic Conference softball doubleheader from UVA Wise claiming game one, 5-2, before winning a, 12-2, five-inning contest in the night capat Cavalier Field.

In game one, Anderson (16-4, 4-0 SAC) used a complete game two hitter from pitcher Kayla Pepper to pick up her eighth win of the season.

The Trojans received a three-hit game from leadoff hitter Meghan Majeski and two hit games from Morgan Charter, Mattie Hamilton, Mattison Cantrell, Sydney Belcher, Gracie Williams and Hope Gullatt as the Black and Gold totaled 15 hits.

Game two saw Anderson strike for seven runs over the first two innings en route to the 12-2 (5 innings) triumph, including a 14 hit team performance.

Majeski and Belcher each had three hits with Kayson Boatner and Mattie Hamilton each recording a home run apiece.

Junior Sarah Middleton gave up just four hits while striking out seven.

Anderson has won its last 13 games.

"Having not played a game in 14 days, our team played phenomenal!", expressed head coach Tommy Hewitt. "29 hits in a total of 12 innings today."
