ROCK HILL, S.C. – Anderson University softball sophomore Kayson Boatner and junior Kayla Pepper earn SAC AstroTurf Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week Honors for their outstanding efforts this past week for the Trojans.
Boatner helped lead the Trojans to a 6-0 record over Lincoln Memorial, Chowan and Lees-McRae this past week. Overall, the Fortson, GA. native, hit a .435 batting average, going 10-for-23 at the plate while hitting six home runs, including 19 RBI. On the week Boatner scored 11 times while posting a remarkable 1.348 slugging average. This is Boatner's first Player of the Week honor of the season.
Pepper took a huge part in the Trojans 6-0 record with a one hitter verses Chowan while also throwing three complete games. Overall Pepper went 22 innings allowing just 24 hits and striking out a season-high 23. This is Pepper's first Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
Anderson will host nonconference opponent Augusta on Thursday. First-pitch is slated for 2 pm.
