Trojans Sweep SAC Runners of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Behind a pair of stellar performances at last Saturday's 39th Gene Mullin Furman Cross Country Invitational, Anderson's Whitney Bishoff and Deniz Hay were named the South Atlantic Conference Cross Country Runners of the Week, as announced by the league Tuesday morning.

A senior from Winder, Ga., Bishoff set a new course record en route to winning the 5K event, while pacing the Trojans for the fourth time in as many outings this season. As a team, AU placed fifth place in an 11-team field that included five NCAA Division I schools and a total of 94 runners. She posted a time of 17:56, crossing the finish line a comfortable 13 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor

Hay, a sophomore from Lake Worth, Fla., finished 12th overall and tops among all D-II runners. He led the men's squad to a season's-best third-place finish, while competing on a challenging course in a 12-team field that included five NCAA Division I teams and 89 runners.

Anderson has break of nearly two weeks before the South Atlantic Conference Championships on Oct. 22 in Morristown, Tenn.
