ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson men's golf team is set to open its spring campaign at the Southern Tide Intercollegiate, which will be co-hosted by Limestone and Coker, Monday and Tuesday at the Green Valley Country Club in Travelers Rest, S.C.
Led by Jake Miller's three-round, 11-over-par 227, the Trojans finished 12th a year ago. Miller finished in a tie for 22nd, while Weston Bell claimed 52nd place after carding a three-round 237. Grayson Bell (241) shared 56th place, with David Monroe posting a three-round 245 and finishing 64th. Payton Whitlock notched a 248 and finishing in a tie for 68th.
Miller paced the Trojans through four fall tournaments with a 74.89 stroke average, while capturing a 10th-place finish at the AU Invitational last September. The Anderson, S.C., native fired a season-low 71 on the second day of the King University Invitational. Senior Forrest Fowler posted a 75.78 stroke average through nine rounds and recorded a second-place finish at the AU Invitational.
Bell and freshman Cal Brock each recorded 73s during the fall and posted stroke averages of 76.17 and 76.33, respectively. Brock earned a fifth-place finish at the AU Invitational and sophomore Brady Cox captured a share of 22nd place at the King Invitational and tied for 24th at the AU tourney en route to a 76.44 stroke average during the fall. A native of Anderson, S.C., he equaled Miller's low round 71 during the second round of the King Invitational.
